Our story

Two brothers, one chalkboard, and a lot of hot steel.

Hammer & Tongs is Jude and Isaac. Every knife here was dreamed up at the kitchen table and hand-forged at home in Colorado.

Chapter I

The kitchen table & the chalkboard

Before any steel was hammered, there was homework. The boys asked why anyone starts a business, wrote down the trade-offs, picked out who they'd make knives for, and set real goals for the year. Then came the names — pages and pages of them.

Chapter II

How we got the mark

The crossed hammer and tongs showed up early and kept coming back — in pencil, in colored pencil over the flag, in chalk — until it looked just right.

Chapter III

Hunting for steel

Good knife steel doesn't have to come from a catalog. The boys walk the salvage yard for old truck coil springs, haul them home, and cut them down to size.

Chapter IV

The fire & the anvil

Snow on the ground doesn't stop the forge. One brother holds the steel with the tongs, the other swings the hammer.

Tongs and hammer — that's the name.

Chapter V

The grind & the table

Then comes the grinder, the guards, the handles and the sheaths — until the table is covered in knives.
